Derek was born into a very musical generation of his family. His two older brothers (Wes and Evan), and his two younger sisters (Haley and Zoe) were all heavily involved in Cedaredge, Colorado scholastic music programs. A well seasoned jazz drummer, Derek began early on during his elementary school years, developing is talents over years of practice. He was approached by Cameron in 2014 about playing, and it took a little over a year before the two could get together. When he finaly did, however, they felt the chemistry in their music right away.
